Victorian Regulator Longcase Clock

A mahogany cased super quality regulator timepiece. Of unusual form this rare regulator clock with circular silvered dial has a super quality movement including six spoke wheel work and Harrisons maintaining power within heavy plates.
Both the dial and beat regulation plate are inscribed Passmore, Sidmouth which likely relates to the business that originally commissioned the clock rather than the maker. Many of these timepieces were originally displayed in jewellers’ shops where accuracy was paramount.

For the increased accuracy associated with this type of time piece it also has a heavy twin flask mercury compensating pendulum. Powered by a single large brass bound weight the clock currently keeps accurate time to within a few seconds a week.
