A brass detailed bracket clock retailed by Maple of London

£850.00

Dating from the late 19th century this Regency style timepiece has a single fusee chain driven movement within a dome topped mahogany case which is surmounted by a large swing loop carrying handle.  The circular dial lies behind a convex, lockable glass door with original key and has painted roman numerals on a white background with the inscription “Maple London”.

Raised on brass ogee feet the polished mahogany case is further decorated with brass detailing to both front and top with fish scale sound fretting to both sides and a lockable mesh rear door.

The quality movement retains its original round brass pendulum lock for transportation and is keeping excellent time.

Maple & Co, the retailer of the clock was founded in 1841 by John Maple. Their premises on Tottenham Court Road eventually became one of the largest furniture stores in the world with a reputation for high quality items and a royal clientele. Whilst the manufacturer of this clock is unknown as the movement is not signed it is certainly of English origin.

The classically elegant design of this timepiece accentuates the clarity of the clock face.

All are clocks are offered with a twelve-month guarantee.
